Yohimbe comes from the inner bark of the Pausinystalia yohimbe, a small, tropical evergreen tree found in the Congo and West Africa. During the 19th century, it was brought to Europe from West Africa by German missionaries. Nicknamed the "love tree", yohimbe was examined extensively in the 60's for its traditional active properties.
