Description

  • Noise Reduction Rating - NRR 33
  • Smooth, Tapered Foam for a Soft, Comfortable Fit
  • EPA

PROTECHS™ Ear Plugs for WORK are tapered for comfort and help block the sounds of power tools and lawn equipment.  Heavy-duty protection for tough jobs. The highest independently tested NRR provides serious protection suitable for most noisy environments, while the tapered shape seals gently and snugly without pressure. Extra-soft, extra-light foam for a comfortable fit; shaped to fit even very small ear canals; non-irritating smooth surface.

Information required by EPA: The level of noise entering a person's ear, when a hearing protector is worn as directed, is closely approximated by the difference between the A-weighted environmental noise level and the NRR.

Example:

  1. The environmental noise level as measured at the ear is 92 dBA.
  2. The NRR is 33 decibels (dB).
  3. The level of noise entering the ear is approximately equal to [92 dB(A) - 33] 59 dB(A).

Noise Reduction Rating 33 Decibels (When used as Directed)

The range of noise reduction ratings for existing hearing protectors is approximately 0 to 30 (higher numbers denote greater effectiveness).

Suggested use

Moldex foam earplugs must be fitted and worn correctly to provide effective protection. Consult your supervisor or an audiologist before wearing. Wash or clean hands before use.

Roll & compress With clean hands, hold earplug between thumb and forefinger as shown. Roll and progressively compress the entire tapered end of the earplug to a small wrinkle-free cylinder.

Insert To ensure fitting, reach hand overhead and gently pull ear upward and outward as shown. Insert compressed, tapered end of earplug well inside ear canal. Hold 30-60 seconds until earplug expands. Release, then push in again for 5 seconds to ensure fit.

Correct fit When properly inserted, the bottom edge of earplug is located at the opening of the ear canal.

Incorrect fit A portion of the earplug not in the ear canal will reduce effectiveness.

User fit check In a noisy environment with earplugs inserted, cuphands over both ears and release. If the earplugs are inserted correctly, you should not notice a significant difference in attenuation. If a proper fit has not been obtained, move to a quiet area and repeat fitting instructions.

Earplug removal Remove earplug slowly. Use a gentle twisting motion to gradually break the seal. Rapid removal may damage eardrum.

Warnings

Do not cut ear plugs. Use by children should be closely supervised by an adult. Inspect product before use and replace plugs if they are damaged or show signs of wear. Not for prolonged use. Product intended for single user only.

Keep earplugs away from infants and small children as they may get caught in the windpipe and create a choking hazard. If you should experience pain or discomfort when using this product, please discontinue use.

For noise environments dominated by frequencies below 500 Hz the C-weighted environmental noise level should be used. Improper fit of this device will reduce its effectiveness in attenuating noise. Consult the enclosed instructions for proper fit. Although hearing protectors can be recommended for protection against the harmful effects of impulsive noise, the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) is based on the attenuation of continuous noise and may not be an accurate indicator of the protection attainable against impulsive noise such as gunfire.

Federal law prohibits removal of this label prior to purchase. Label required by US EPA regulation 40 CFR Part 211 Subpart B.
