Origin: Ruhuna Region, Lanka Sri Lanka, Lumbini Estate

Orange Pekoe is a popular term in the tea trade. Despite its name, it has nothing to do with the color or flavor orange. Orange Pekoe is part of a system of grading tea leaves according to their size and position on the tea branch. This grading system is used especially in the countries of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia and Kenya.

Lowland Tea

Unlike other tea growing regions in the world, many of the best teas in Sri Lanka are grown in the lowlands near the coast. Topographically, this tea is grown in a virtual crucible fostering quick growth and lush full leaves and tips.

Lumbini Tea Estate

Grown at the reputed Lumbini tea estate which is in close proximity to the Sinharaja Forest Reserve. Lumbini is recipient of several awards and merits - Special Merit Award for The Best Tea Factory in Sri Lanka and Gold Award for the Orange Pekoe 1 (OP1) by The Specialty Tea Institute of USA.

Flavor Profile

A light bodied tea with balanced sweetness and astringency. Aromas of turbinado and warm brown sugar.
